A table for connection
Help me bring a dining set to life
This year, instead of a traditional birthday gift, I'm inviting you to help me bring a dining set to life. Inspired by the things we carry, the stories we share, and the people we gather around the table
In 2023, I found this bowl on one of the most destroyed streets in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I didn't know what I would do with it. I just knew I wanted to keep it. Since then, it has become my slowest project ever. I documented it, studied it, mapped where I found it, and gradually started thinking about what it could become. A year ago, I finally made a mould and cast the first reproduction. Then I found a rare production partner in Ukraine who works with porcelain. And now, after all these years, there is one piece in progress. But I don't want it to stop there
How it started
I don't want this to remain just one bowl. I want to develop a dining set designed for connection. Plates. Cups. Bowls. Candleholders. Tablecloth. Serving pieces. Other objects.
Objects that invite us to share, pass, hold, discover, and connect.
From one bowl to a dining set
The first dinner is where I begin exploring what this table could become.
We will eat together, bring objects with stories, share them around the table, and imagine what objects could help create connection.
The drawings, conversations, and ideas from this evening will become part of what we will be designing next.

If you were thinking of giving me something for my birthday, you can contribute towards bringing the first dining set to life: developing new forms, making prototypes, working with makers in Ukraine, and testing the objects around the table.
